You cannot imagine…or you probably can, how people from the “modern” world look at me, when I pronounce the word Vedic Astrology… I still remember the ”crazy” faces of some of my friends and question that people always ask me: “Hmmm…Anatoly, what is Vedic astrology ?”
So I decided that it will be very useful if the first articles in my website can answer that question and can give you light on that subject
And now I know that some of you , probably are asking :
Hmmm…Anatoly, what is Vedic astrology ?”
Vedic astrology, also known as Indian Astrology or Jyotish, is the oldest astrology in the world. The name Vedic comes from the word Veda, which literally means wisdom or true knowledge. In Sanskrit, the word Jyotish, is translated as “science of light.
According to the Indian mythology, the God creator of astrology is Vishnu -The supreme eternal
God who never died neither he was born. Out from his belly came the seed of creation per the Vedic texts.Through his belly he opened the life of Lotus flower; flower which held the seed of God Brhama, the creator of everything. Through the breath of bhrama the word ”OM” or “Aeee-ooo-mm”, were spoken and the light created all that we see in the sky and on this planet. For this is why all and everything is God. We also know God as a frequency which astrology helps us tune into.
Vedic astrology is a sacred part of the everyday life of Indians. It is an integral element in Hinduism. Even Some of the astrologers are also priests and they have a high and noble position in society
In a number of holy books of the Hindu religion, we find written references to wisdom in all spheres of life, including astrology. In the Rig Veda, a sacred text that dates from several thousand years before Christ, we can actually find directions for astrological methods and calculations. The ancient Greeks must have had contact with Indian astrologers, because it appears that the astrology of the Greeks, the founders of Western astrology, is very much akin to Indian astrology in a surprisingly large number of ways, but this we can discuss later on our journey in Hindu astrology
Vedic astrology shares its roots with Yoga and Ayurveda. The Yoga provides physical and mental ways to tame the mind and the body. Ayurveda harmonize the body construction and Vedic astrology reveals the map and the timing of events that may manifest in our life.
Jyotish describes the planetary patterns at the time of our birth and can give us valuable clues to understanding our life’s journey. Through careful analysis of these cosmic influences, Jyotish can help us to realistically evaluate our strengths and challenges in order to optimize our full potential. By forecasting the changing trends and periods of our lives, Jyotish can also enable us to make more evolutionary choices. It offers practical remedial measures to alleviate areas of difficulty, giving us the confidence to manifest our true destiny and create success, happiness, and harmony on all levels.
And of course the main purpose of Vedic astrology is to promote Self-realization and encourage awareness of the human being
Nowadays there are so many resources on Hindu astrology that you can find in the web or in the book stores
Literally, I can provide you with hundreds of articles…but I think that you already want to ask another question – the most common question that people have “Is Vedic astrology the same like our Western ?”…. and the answer is….
