THE SIGNS

 

There are 12 signs of the zodiac, and each sign is ruled by one of the 7 planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are not included).  Each sign also has a nature which is either fire, earth, air or water, and this describes how the sign functions – four elements.

Furthermore, each sign also has a nature which is described as Moveable, Fixed or Dual.  These are known as the three qualities.  In Sanskrit these terms are known as Chara, Sthira and Dwishwabhava.  In Western Astrology, they are called the Quadruplicities (4 signs of each quality).
